At Chequers, we offer cocktails using Kraken as the base ingredient, but it makes a great shot for after dark too.

Just beware of the Kraken.

Chequers is a stone’s pebble’s throw from the West Pier, which famously burnt down in 2003.

Now, only the metal skeleton of the old theatre at the end of the pier remains, although it looks beautiful at sunset.

Once the sun has sunk, we’re just a short walk up Preston Street (home of a thousand restaurants), and ready to warm you up with a pint, and a shot of Kraken rum.

Having recently changed hands, Chequers is quickly gaining a reputation as one of Brighton’s coolest pubs.

It’s been refurbished with a fresh retro vibe, and there’s an eclectic feel to the bar.

Chequers really does have something for everyone- there’s a great selection of beer, from Heineken to Brakspear.
